Book 60 years Applied Mathematics at the UT
The Impact of 60 Years of Applied Mathematics in Twente
The Applied Mathematics program at the University of Twente is almost 60 years old. A program with a rich history and impressive impact—from contributions to China's one-child policy to the invention of Wi-Fi.
To celebrate the upcoming anniversary, a special book is being published, written by alumnus Herman Koppelman. He takes you along a journey of six decades of Applied Mathematics in Twente. Based on interviews with alumni, students, and (former) staff, he outlines how the program developed, the role applied mathematics has always played, and the influence of our community—both within and outside the university.
The book contains approximately 200 pages, richly illustrated with around 150 photos. A must-have for anyone proud of their program and curious about the stories behind 60 years of Applied Mathematics. We would, of course, love to publish this book in print. We received a grant from the University Fund at the University of Twente. The mathematics department and the faculty are also contributing, but this is limited due to the University of Twente's financial situation. To balance the budget and produce the book, we're asking for the help of our alumni.
With €6,000 still to be raised, we're making an extra appeal to our alumni community: become a sponsor! As a thank you, you'll receive the book and be recognized as a sponsor with the appropriate medal in the book!
