Solar Boat Twente 2025
Solar Boat Twente is building the boat of tomorrow!
This year, as the eighth team, we are building the very last solar boat. With a motivated group of 24 students from the University of Twente and Saxion University of Applied Sciences and eight years of experience and knowledge, we are going all in to achieve the ultimate goal: winning the Balaton Solar Boat Challenge in Hungary. The boat we are building is no ordinary solar boat. We fly above the water at high speeds using hydrofoils. These hydrofoils are controlled by a computer-guided system that no other team in the competition uses!
While we may be ending the development of solar boats, our student team is far from done. Starting next year, we will embark on a new project: a boat powered by green methanol. Unlike solar energy, methanol can easily be implemented in modern ships and applied on a much larger scale. In doing so, we continue to live up to our motto: Innovation to Inspire! We remain dedicated to driving sustainability in the maritime sector.
