SBK ENSCHEDEThe Student Board for Combating Cancer, SBK Enschede, is going to raise money to combat fatigue after breast cancer and we need your help!
The treatment of breast cancer has improved considerably in recent years and as a result, three out of four patients are still alive ten years after diagnosis. Unfortunately, there is not always attention for the influence of the consequences of the treatment of this disease on daily life.
Fatigue due to the disease and the treatment is common: 80% of people experience fatigue after cancer. One in five is still extremely tired even ten years later. Fatigue affects how someone can participate in society. Many women who have recovered from breast cancer indicate that they cannot work (or no longer fully), that parties are too busy and that they have to choose what to spend their energy on. Fortunately, there are treatments for fatigue after breast cancer, but these do not always work for everyone.
That is why it is important to continue research, so that every woman can receive treatment that suits her. To contribute to this, we are organizing a sprint triathlon!
On Sunday June 15 we will swim, cycle and run. And the best part: you can participate! During the SBK sprint triathlon you will spend as a team of 3 or individually, 750 m in the water, 20km on the bike and 5 km on your running shoes, after which you will be welcomed as a hero on the Oude Markt and can enjoy a concert.
Start a campaign, individually or with your team and ensure as many supporters as possible!
All contributions will go directly to the special cancer research of Annemieke Witteveen from the University of Twente. Will you raise 250 euros or more with your (team) campaign? Then we will invite you and your supporters to a lecture by the researcher.
